More Drips and Drops.....

....for the 'Drips and Drops' challenge over on Country View Challenges.
I like the look of 'CAS .....clean and simple' cards BUT I don't really do clean! So I've decided that when playing with this kinda style I'm going with 'MAS......messy and simple'!! Lol!

So here's a quick how to...first of all I started off by stamping the butterfly (IndigoBlu) on a piece of 7"x 7" white stamping card...
Then using a bit of cut and dry foam and distress inks (Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers) I added some colour to the butterfly...
Then I spritzed it liberally with water to get the colours to run and drip. Once I'd given it a quick dry, I watered down some of the ink and flicked some some spots of colour on...
I then decided I fancied a bit more interest to the background so I grabbed one of Tim Holtz's layering stencils and some black soot distress ink to add a bit more texture...
To finish I simply stamped some words (Kaisercraft) and mounted onto a white card blank.
Thanks for stopping by and do remember to pop by Country View Challenges to join in the fun.

All About Face....

...is the new challenge over on the That's Crafty Challenge blog. I used a bit of card for my base that had been used to try out and mop up colours after I'd been working with AquaTints.....
....onto that I stamped the face stamp from Carabelle Studio's and added a bit of background stamping and wording using Kaisercraft  clear stamps.
If you can pop over and join in the fun, there's a chance to win a £20 That's Crafty voucher!

Hot and Spicy...

....is the new theme over at the That's Crafty Challenge blog. So I've gone for some hot and spicy colours........
Started off by embossing a piece of card using the Sheena Douglass Sakura Embossing Folder and then colouring it with a mixture of distress inks.......Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and a bit of Gathered Twigs
Then I stamped and cut out IndigoBlu's big butterfly and then coloured it with matching colours of distress ink
Then just glued everything together adding a sentiment from the Kaisercraft range and mounting everything onto a card blank.
Make sure you pop over and join in the challenge, you could win a £20 voucher to spend on the website :)

Keep It Simple...

....is the new challenge over on the That's Crafty challenge blog.  Now I know there is a definite trend for real clean and simple cards, which isn't really my thing BUT as the challenge is Keep It Simple I decided to really challenge myself to keep it really clean, simple and quite modern ....think I achieved it! Lol!
I used IndigoBlu's lovely Big Butterfly stamp, inked up with distress inks and then spritzed with water before stamping.  The greeting stamp is from the Kaisercraft Birthday set.

Do pop over and join in the challenge if you can.....there's a chance to win a £20 voucher to spend on the That's Crafty site!

So today is .....

.....the start of a new challenge over at the That's Crafty Challenge where the theme is 'Stamping Ground' ie anything to do with stamping (no digi's though), do pop over and take part ........you stand a chance of winning a £20 voucher to spend at That's Crafty.  I've used some IndigoBlu stamps for this large tag.....
To make the background tag I stamped and clear embossed 3 of the 'Flutterby' stamp by IndigoBlu onto a large white tag. Then using a bit of cut 'n' dry foam I applied Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry distress ink all over the tag. Then I used various stamps from Kaisercraft and Artistic Outpost to add some further background interest......stamps I used were.......Generation Redux, Lattice, and Tic Toc. Then I stamped the sentiment from the Artistic Outpost Happiness set and mounted it onto a black mat before positioning on tag.
Using the 'Big Butterfly' stamp I stamped and heat embossed it in black onto some heat resistant acetate (don't forget to use an anti static bag on your acetate first!).....
Then I coloured the reverse side with Spectrum Noir pens (any alcohol marker pens will work). For this to work the best you really need to pick darker/brighter colours......
Once the pen has dried, and it dries very quickly, you need to paint over it with white acrylic or gesso......I used gesso.  You will find some of the colour bleeds into the paint but that doesn't matter.....

Once the gesso was completely dry I simply cut out the butterfly and glued it onto the tag.  I only applied glue under the body so the wings had freedom to move but you could glue it all down if you prefer.  For the bow at the top I simply took some crinkle ribbon and coloured it using the same colour of distress inks that I had used in the background.

Don't forget to pop over to the challenge blog and check out the rest of the design teams pieces and to join in the fun yourself. Thanks for visiting.

Happy Fathers Day......

......to all the dads out there. Over at Sunday Postcard Art the theme is 'Men Only'....well considering the day it seemed appropriate! Lol! I've used a new stamp for my creation.....always looked at some of the Stampotique stamps and fancied having a play but never actually got round to buying any, well a few months ago I picked one up second hand and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get it inked up!! So here's my 'stylish' dude all dressed up for Father's Day............

Time for another challenge....

....on the That's Crafty Challenge Blog. I've made an ATC using a lovely zentangle style owl from Lost Coast designs because the theme for the next 2 weeks is 'The Birds'.
Made a background for my little feathery friend by blending Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn distress ink onto an atc blank, then splashed with a few water droplets for a faux bleached look and then added a little background stamping with Kaisercrafts grid stamp.
I stamped the owl onto some white card, cut him out and coloured him with Ripe Persimmon and Mustard Seed distress ink using some cut 'n' dry foam. Then I added a tiny bit of text paper to the coloured atc and glued the owl in place above the text paper. Then simply added a few little words from the Tim Holtz chit chat sticker pack.

Don't forget to pop over and join in the fun of the challenge.

Bright colours....

....and a butterfly for my weekly piece for That's Crafty.  Last few pieces I've put up have been in the earthy palette of colours so figured I better wake you all up with a nice burst of colour!! Was kinda trying for a slightly Pop Art look (blame playing with photo apps on my phone for the idea!) but ended up with a tiny bit of grunge thrown in for good measure.  Anyway full details are on the That's Crafty blog but here's what it look like.....

Time for my....

.....second piece for May's Country View Challenge where the theme is Nature's Glories. I was having a bit of a rummage through my craft stuff the other week and came across a mini moleskine sketchbook and decided to turn it into a little quote journal. So here's the first pages with a lovely 'Nature' quote....

Started off by getting some colour onto the pages by using the double page spread to clean off my gelli plate. Then I added some distress ink .... mustard seed and ripe persimmon......to increase the depth of colour. The I sponged a bit of rusty hinge distress through a mask to add another layer of colour. Then a few circles using lid off a distress paint that was handy and a bit of stamping round the edge added another layer and som more interest.
Then I stamped the lovely feathered bird by Lost Coast designs ( love this stamp!), added some flowers (Sheena Douglas) and a border and some leaves (Dylusions) before using some alphabet stamps to add the quote.
